Disruptions on trams 39 and 44 expected for several days

While Brussels STIB network is almost back to normal after the disruption and damage caused by strong winds on Sunday, some tram lines are still facing issues.  The capital’s eastern tram lines 39 and 44 are still heavily affected, the company said this morning. This is a situation that could last several days.

Six trees fell in different places on the overhead lines, damaging the catenaries, STIB explained. In consequence, Trams 39 and 44 cannot run for the time being between the Tram Museum and their respective terminals (Ban Eik and Tervuren). Buses are ensuring service remains between these sections.

STIB teams now have to clear the fallen trees and make repairs. It will take 3-4 days to restore the entire network, the company warned.
