STIB holds fashion show to show off new uniforms

The Belgian metro was turned from a platform into catwalk today when the new STIB uniform was unveiled to the press.  During a fashion show in the Heysel metro station in Brussels, the transport operator showed off the new uniforms for staff, designed by Olivier Strelli.

As of May,  5100 Brussels public transport workers will wear their new outfit, in which shades of blue dominate. The previous uniform was from 2006.

Olivier Strelli chose to combine three types of blue, the "navy blue, the royal blue and special blue STIB" in the different pieces of uniforms, manufactured by French company (Cepovett).

The outfit colours will vary depending on the position occupied, with each profession distinguished by the main colour of the top (shirts, polos, raincoat, ...):

Blue: for directors/managers, reception and sales personnel
Gray: for safety officers
Red: for multimodal employees
White: for management on the ground and support functions
