Thousands of cannabis plants found in Brussels, 9 people arrested

Thousands of cannabis plants were seized in Brussels on Wednesday following ten simultaneous searches by police officers from the Montgomery police zone (Etterbeek, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre).

The investigators by the local narcotics research section found the drugs as part of a long-term investigation of traffickers and the creation of a network of cannabis farms.

Sixty police officers participated in this large-scale operation that led to the discovery of six farms in private homes. All these farms were professionally managed. Several thousand cannabis plants were seized, as well as all the equipment allowing optimal exploitation of the farms.

At the end of these, nine individuals were arrested and four of them were made available to an investigating judge, the police of the Montgomery zone and the public prosecutor of Brussels indicate in a joint statement on Friday.
