Around 500 high school and university students demonstrated on the streets of Brussels on Thursday, according to police figures. The main event of the Youth For Climate movement takes place in Liège, but decentralized actions are also taking place in other cities.
With their traditional signs and banners, the young people demonstrated on the usual route, which joins the Gare du Midi from Gare du Nord.
This is a decline from last week, when the call for a global climate strike, launched by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, drew between 30,000 and 35,000 people in Brussels.
Young people plan to demonstrate every Thursday until the May 26 elections to demand ambitious climate policies.
