Brussels fire services rescued 5 people from a fire in an apartment building in Uccle on Tuesday evening. The fire occurred in an apartment building on the Chaussée d'Alsembergat around 9:10 PM on Tuesday evening, according to the Brussels fire services.

The four occupants of the first and second floor of the building were evacuated with ladders while the occupant of the third floor was evacuated together with two cats along the staircase with an oxygen mask connected to the air cylinder of a firefighter, according to reports.

The occupant of the mezzanine floor was overwhelmed by the smoke, as was the occupant of the third floor. They were both taken to the hospital.

In the end, the fire was brought under control relatively quickly, but the entire building was declared uninhabitable and sealed. The residents were taken care of elsewhere, with the help of the police and the municipal services.
