'No evidence of sexual abuse' of toddler in Schaerbeek school

'No evidence of sexual abuse' of toddler in Schaerbeek school

An initial investigation into the potential sexual abuse of a 4-year-old girl in a Schaerbeek school has found no evidence to support the theory, the Brussels Prosecutor's Office said.

On Monday, over 200 protestors gathered to express their concern and anger because the school was not providing information about the investigation of the alleged abuse. On Tuesday morning, the protesters gathered again, as the school had still not commented on the matter.

The mother of the toddler found blood in her daughter's underwear after she picked her up from her school on Thursday, and immediately went to the police.

The prosecutor's office confirmed last week that the girl had been injured, but had not provided details of the cause.

On Tuesday morning, the prosecutor's office stated in a press conference that no evidence of sexual abuse had been found.
