Fire in rue Haute, one injured

A fire in Brussels' rue Haute late on Wednesday left one person slightly injured and caused extensive damage to the building where it originated, a fire-department spokesperson confirmed.

Reports of a fire an apartment building in the street, located near the city's Marolles neighbourhood, emerged at around 23:30, according to local media reports.

The building's inhabitants were evacuated under clouds of heavy smoke, and firefighters managed to extinguish the flames from the roof of the building.

As a result of the damage from the flames and flooding, the building is currently uninhabitable.

Only one inhabitant of the third floor, where the fire originated, is injured.

No further details on the cause of the fire have been given.
