Waste collection services in some Brussels municipalities did not operate on Tuesday due to a country-wide union strikes, and local residents are asked to take out their trash later in the week.
Several employees from public cleaning agency Bruxelles Proprété took part in the strike, leaving waste largely uncollected throughout the capital on Tuesday.
The agency is therefore asking residents to hold onto their trash bags and take them out Friday or next Tuesday instead, in an effort to avoid the all-too-common sight of waste bags sitting on Brussels’ sidewalks.
Residents are asked to take out the white trash bags on Friday, and hold onto the orange, blue and green bags until next Tuesday.
The municipalities concerned by this are Anderlecht, Berchem, Etterbeek, Evere, Jette, Koekelberg, Laeken, Molenbeek, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and Woluwe-Saint-Lambert.
