The Brussels Gallery Weekend will take place in Brussels from 7 to 10 September. The annual weekend – which was organised for the first time in 2008 – is the second oldest of its kind, after the Gallery Weekend in Berlin.

Since it was launched, the Brussels Gallery Weekend has "been on a mission to highlight the rich and varied contemporary art scene in Brussels, where numerous participating galleries leave their mark on the artistic landscape," the organisation said.

"For its 16th edition, the BGW has a special program in store, from a unique location: the headquarters of D'Ieteren, in the heart of the capital," said the organisation of the Brussels Gallery Weekend.

This edition has much in store and will be free entry: the Albert Baronian Gallery celebrates its 50th anniversary, Michel Rein's Brussels branch is blowing out 10 candles, and Galerie Nathalie Obadia celebrated its 15th year in Brussels earlier this year.

Additionally, 42 other galleries will also participate in the initiative. For the sixth year in a row, the Generation Brussels exhibition also presents a selection of artists who live and work in Brussels.

The 2023 edition is entitled Cet obscur objet du désir and is written by art critic and exhibition commissioner Sam Steverlynck. The BGW is also presenting two new partnerships, with Ateliers Indigo and Globe Aroma.
