The police released on Tuesday at the request of the Brussels public prosecutor a search appeal for two individuals suspected of carrying out an armed robbery attempt in July earlier this year in Molenbeek.
The attempted robbery took place at around 2:20 PM on 14 July 2019 at a Carrefour express store in the Gare de l'Ouest train station in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean.
After coming in and out of the store more than once, the two men waited outside the office door in the store for a staff member to arrive. After a staff member went into the room, the two men entered and demanded that the staff member open the safe. One of the men threatened the staff member with a pistol.
The robbers were forced to flee the store when it became clear that the staff member did not know the code to open the safe. Before leaving the store, the robbers tied up the staff member.
According to the federal police, both robbers are of North African origin and are similar in height, around 1 meter 75 centimetres.
The police invite anyone with further information to contact the investigators.
