Russian gas company Gazprom announced on Monday that it will further reduce deliveries via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline through the Baltic Sea.

From Wednesday, only 33 million cubic meters of gas per day – 20 percent of the maximum capacity – will flow through the main pipeline to Germany, the group said.

Gazprom said the cutback was due to the repairing of another turbine.

In response to the announcement, gas prices skyrocketed on Monday afternoon.
