The number of active customers of the HelloFresh meal delivery service reached 8 million in the 2nd quarter (+4.1% year-on-year) despite “the unusual increase in travel”, the German company announced in a press release on Monday.

Its revenue for the second quarter of 2022 amounted to €1.96 billion (+16%). This amounted to a quarterly profit of €145.9 million – lower than results for the same period in 2021 (€157.8 million). The average order value also increased in the 2nd quarter (+11%), Belga News Agency reported.

“We have developed more quick recipes which allow you to prepare a fresh meal in 15 to 20 minutes. We are also working more and more with seasonal products. The delivery of ingredients in exact quantities allows to control expenses”, says Pauwel Wiertsema, CEO of HelloFresh Benelux.

“We have largely mitigated the effects of inflation without fully passing on these significant costs to our customers. We can thus continue to offer our products at an attractive and competitive price”, said Dominik Richter, CEO and co-founder of Hello Fresh.
