A police officer of the Brussels-South police zone has been arrested for questioning in a case handled by the federal public prosecutor's office.

The 54-year-old police inspector was arrested at his home in Molenbeek, Het Nieuwsblad reports.

“It is true that an officer of the police force was taken away for questioning in a case of the federal public prosecutor's office,” Sarah Frederickx, spokesperson for the Brussels-South zone, confirmed to Bruzz.

After a search of the officer’s home, another search followed at the police station in Vorst.

It is not yet clear what the investigators were looking for, but Het Nieuwsblad writes that the search may be related to the Sky-ECC case ‘Operation Sky,’ which has seen a number of prominent public servants arrested in connection to organised crime.
