Come next year, all energy suppliers in Flanders will be required to invoice their customers on a monthly basis, Flemish Energy Minister Zuhal Demir announced on Wednesday.
With the monthly billing system, customers will receive a statement each month instead of an advance invoice. Previously, only major suppliers with more than 200,000 customers were obliged to offer this system.
Over 100,000 contracts have now transitioned to monthly billing, according to Ms. Demir. As a result, these customers will no longer be surprised by hefty annual bills.
They are also better protected against any financial fallout resulting from a supplier’s potential collapse, she stressed.
