Eden Hazard will be back in the starting line-up for Belgium at the World Cup in Qatar, which starts on 20 November, even if his stint at Real Madrid has not been stellar.

Roberto Martinez, the Red Devils’ Spanish coach, is counting on the Red Devils’ strategist and believes Qatar is “a unique opportunity" for him to show what he can do.

Football is about dedication, quality and experience. Eden is more committed than ever, his talent is still there, and he has a lot of experience, Roberto Martinez commented on announcing his World Cup squad in Tubize on Thursday. What he needs now is match rhythm and there will be one every four days in Qatar, the coach added.

Rhythm is something Eden Hazard sorely needs. Despite the absence of Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema, he has not been getting much more of a chance to express himself on the field.

The last time he played in La Liga was on 11 September against Mallorca, and he has totalled just 229 minutes in seven games in all competitions, with one goal and one assist to his name.

After Brazil in 2014 and Russia in 2018 - where he was the best Red Devil on the pitch - Eden Hazard has now been selected for his third World Cup.
