Belgium’s national football team, the Red Devils, is expected to move to fourth place in the upcoming FIFA rankings, set to be published on Thursday, 30 November.
Belgium clinched victory in two matches last week, beating Serbia by 1-0 in a preparation match in Leuven on Wednesday, then trouncing Azerbaijan by 5-0 in a Euro 2024 qualification match in Brussels on Sunday.
Mirroring England’s climb from fourth to third position, Belgium will gain one place to end up in fourth place.
Brazil suffered two defeats in World Cup 2026 qualifiers, losing to Colombia (2-1) and Argentina (0-1), which caused them to slide down to fifth position.
World champions Argentina will retain their top position, with France in hot pursuit. The Netherlands will rise to sixth position, followed by Portugal, under the leadership of Belgium’s former coach, Roberto Martinez.
The Red Devils had held the topslot in the FIFA ranking from October 2018 to March 2022, repeating their previous tenure from November 2015 to March 2016.
However, their early elimination in the group stage at the Qatar World Cup saw them fall to fourth, then fifth place.
