China has sent a team of medical experts and officials to North Korea to advise on Kim Jong-un, Reuters reported on Friday.
The news agency said its report was based on three sources familiar with the situation.
The mission comes amid contradictory rumours about the health of the North Korean supreme leader. However, its purpose is unclear.
According to Reuters’ sources, the delegation is led by a senior official of the Chinese Communist Party’s International Liaison Department.
Reuters said the Chinese Foreign Ministry declined to respond to its requests for information, while the International Liaison Department could not be reached.
Earlier this week, the U.S. TV channel CNN had announced, based on an internal intelligence service source, that Kim Jong Un was in a critical state following a heart operation.
However, the Government of South Korea had reacted sceptically to this information.
