The United States has prioritised Ukraine over other allies in delivering missiles destined for air defence, a White House spokesperson said on Thursday.
The decision implies that the sending of Patriot and NASAMS missiles to other countries will be “delayed,” according to John Kirby, spokesperson for the National Security Council.
Kirby said this was a "difficult but necessary decision" given the Russian advances in the war against Ukraine,
He explained that Kyiv had a critical need for Patriot interceptor missiles as Russia has accelerated attacks against cities and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
“This decision demonstrates our commitment to supporting our partners when they are in existential danger,” Kirby told reporters.
