One of U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s top advisors, Dominic Cummings, was caught violating stay-at-home rules, British newspapers reported on Friday.

Cummings left his London home to go and stay with his parents in Durham, Northeast England, although he showed symptoms of the new coronavirus (Covid-19), the Daily Mirror and The Guardian reported.

The opposition has called for an explanation. The British people do not expect to see one law for them and another one for Dominic Cummings, a Labour Party spokesman said. The leader of the Liberal Democrats, Ed Davey, said Cummings should resign if the claims prove to be true.

Police in Durham confirmed that they were informed on 31 March that someone had arrived from London. Cummings was seen at his parents’ home with a child who appeared to be his son, the two newspapers reported.

At the time, Boris Johnson’s government had asked people to stay in place except for essential needs, instructing anyone showing Covid-19 symptoms not to leave home.

Dominic Cummings was a prominent member of the pro-Brexit campaign before following Boris Johnson to 10 Dowding Street last year.
