A bag with explosives was found late Sunday night during a culture festival with thousands of visitors in the centre of Stockholm, police in the Swedish capital confirmed on Monday.
After the bag was found near Kungstradgarden Park, investigators cordoned off a large area and turned hundreds of visitors away from the festival. The bomb was then detonated in a controlled manner. “All its components must now be examined, Stockholm Police Chief Erik Akerlund said in a press release. "Only after the investigation at the National Forensic Centre can we say whether the dangerous object was functional.”
No suspects have been arrested so far.
