Train traffic is expected to be “severely disrupted” at the Gare de l’Est station in Paris on Wednesday. Only 1 in 3 intercity high-speed trains will be running, according to communications from the French railroad company, SNCF.

Train traffic at the Gare de l'Est station has been largely at a standstill all day after a “malicious act.”

SNCF had announced on Tuesday that someone had deliberately set fire to a signal box at about 3 a.m., damaging power lines.

French Transport Minister Clément Beaune condemned the “scandalous malicious act.”

He said it was not certain train traffic could be resumed at the important Paris station on Wednesday.
