Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib took part on Saturday in Kyiv, in the presence of President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holodomor,' the great famine in Ukraine in the 1930s.

The Ukrainian term “Holodomor” refers to the extermination by starvation of millions of peasants by the Soviet regime in 1932 and 1933.

The event is considered by Kyiv as a genocide, with Stalin as the culprit. For Moscow, the tragedy was due to poor harvests.
