France saw 719 arrests on Saturday night amidst escalating unrest over a teenager’s police shooting.

The Ministry of Interior reported that during this fifth night of protests, 45 police and gendarmerie officers were injured.

The unrest led to 577 vehicles and 74 buildings being torched, alongside 871 reported public place fires.

It was also disclosed that 10 police stations, 10 gendarmerie barracks, and 6 municipal police posts had been attacked.

Hotspots of unrest: Marseille and Lyon

Marseille and Lyon stood out as the cities bearing the brunt of the violence, echoing the pattern observed in prior instances of violence.

Other notable incidents included the Mayor of La Riche’s official vehicle suffering fire damages near Tours in Indre-et-Loire. There was also a ram raid on the family home of the Mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses in Val-de-Marne.

A community centre in Mantes-la-Jolie and another in Limay, Yvelines, were set on fire, and a court office in the Wiesberg district of Forbach, Moselle, also sustained fire damages.
