The twelfth edition of Nuit Blanche will take place in Brussels on October 4th and will be dedicated to the cinema. The program was revealed on Tuesday at a press conference at the iconic Nova Cinema, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Karine Lalieux. The route will run from the Place de la Bourse down to Adolphe Max and Emile Jacqmain Boulevard via Rue Neuve. This event aims to revive the films of the 1920s and the excitement that prevailed at the time, said Karine Lalieux.
A total of 35 films, domestic and foreign, were selected from the 300 applications received. Twenty new projects will also be unveiled.
A film by Cécile Hupin, revealed at the 2012 edition, will be included in the program. The Belgian designer has created a small event exclusively for adults over 65, and will offer seniors the opportunity to "to reclaim their lust for life."
The Scottish urban poet, Robert Montgomery, will illuminate the Place des Martyrs with light sculptures. Stéphane Masson has designed his sculpture, "Supercube", through which he will miniaturize the visitors and seal their images in jars.
Testimonials from viewers or and theater owners of the 1920s will also be broadcast at the Nova.
Places such as La Monnaie and the Metropole Hotel, which will host filming for which costumes from the 1920’s will be required, are not to be forgotten.
Finally, starting at 2AM, several theaters will be offering special Nuit Blanche programming.
Bicycle parking will be available and Noctis will be freely available until 3AM. Place Brouckère will be fully pedestrianized for the occasion.
