The album “Racine carrée”, by Stromae, which was already the biggest-seller in 2013, was again the best-selling record in France in 2014. This was announced by Snep, the main record producer’s union in France, in its annual results.

The Belgian star has already sold nearly 2 million copies of his album, released in August 2013. 680,000 of these were in 2014, according to data from the site Pure Charts.fr (Snep doesn’t give out sales figures). Behind Stromae, second and third places go to two debut albums: Kendji Girac and “pop gitane” (549,000 copies according to Pure Charts.fr), and Indila and urban music matinée album “world music” (543,000 copies).

As for singles, English takes the lead with the unbeatable “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. He beats the surprise summer hit “Prayer in C” by the French group Lily Wood & The Prick, which was remixed by a German DJ.
