Belgium will take part in the Dubai Universal Exhibition

The Minister’s Council approved Belgium’s participation in the Dubai Universal Exhibition on Friday. It also approved the creation of an “autonomous administrative accounting service”, which will regulate Belgium’s participation in international exhibitions.

The 35th universal exhibition will take place in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) from October to April 2021. The theme will be “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.

Belgium’s participation in the exhibition will be funded by federal government and regional contributions, as well as money made from previous exhibitions, Economy Minister Kris Peeters explained.

A cooperation agreement and protocol have been drawn up.

As part of this, the Minister’s Council has approved the creation of an autonomous administrative accounting service. It will regulate Belgium’s participation in exhibitions organized by the International Exhibitions Bureau. This administrative service, known as the “Belgian International Exhibitions Commission”, will be part of the Economy SPF. It will be monitored by a reviewer, two government commissioners and the management committee.

The government commissioners will be at management committee meetings and make sure legal requirements are met. It will also keep an eye on statuses and public interests.
