Strong line-up at Leuven Jazz festival

Strong line-up at Leuven Jazz festival
All kinds of jazz will be present in this year's Leuven Jazz, including acid jazz and more funky and soulful jazz. The parties will go on until the morning.

Leuven Jazz festival promises to be well frequented, as the organisers have announced strong headliners for the 7th edition of the festival, taking place 14 to 24 March. This year includes headliners such as guitarist Philip Catherine, piano artists Vijay Iyer and Craig Taborn, psychedelic jazz by Dans Dans and Danish guitarist Jakob Bro. In just 11 days, jazz-lovers can attend over 60 concerts by international artists, as well as Belgian top musicians and local young talents. The programme also includes jazz movies, family concerts, exhibitions and more, with tickets now on sale.

Denise Vandevoort, alderwoman for culture said that "Leuven Jazz is truly a city festival. Just wander the streets and you'll feel the jazz all over town: in grand concert halls, on boats, in movie theatres and living rooms. The festival thus reflects the spirit of Leuven as a music city, with the warm collaboration between 23 partners: besides professional venues such as 30CC, Het Depot or STUK, we also include Appeltuinjazz, Oratoriënhof, La Conserve, Stelplaats and many more. Their combined efforts deliver a multi-layered festival.”

The more festive side of jazz will also be present in the acid jazz and funk of Incognito, but also in a late party with drum 'n bass legend LTJ Bukem, Joe Armon-Jones and Belgian star dj LeFtO.
