The popular American doughnut chain Dunkin' Donuts could be coming to Belgium as early as next year, according to an interview with a main European franchiser.

In 2020, a first branch is expected to open in Antwerp, Roberto Fava said in an interview with the magazine RetailTrends. Fava is a franchise partner that Dunkin' Donuts previously used to bring the chain to the Netherlands.

"The plan is to open about ten stores a year for the next four to five years," Fava explained. This would represent around six in the Netherlands and four a year in Belgium, according to RetailTrends.

"In the end, we will have forty or fifty stores in the Netherlands and twenty or so in Belgium. After that we're pretty much where we want to be."

The doughnut and coffee chain currently has 22 branches in the Netherlands.

Rumours have been circulating since 2015 that the chain would come to Belgium, but this is the first concrete information.
