Jean-Marc Meilleur, the public prosecutor for Brussels, has resigned to take a job in the private sector beginning in April.

Tim De Wolf, the deputy, will serve as interim prosecutor until the position is filled.

Meilleur served the court for 18 years, seven of which were spent as the head of the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

He will start a new job as a partner at a communications agency, according to Bruzz.

“It is not an easy prosecution to manage. There are many requests and many demands, but I leave the position peacefully and proud of the work done. I do not leave like a thief in the night with skeletons in the closet,” Meilleur said.

He added that while a person only has one life, they are able to have several professional lives, and “that is very enriching.”
