Between April 7 and 13, there were an average of 256.7 hospital admissions per day due to the coronavirus, according to figures from the Sciensano public health institute updated on Wednesday morning.

A total of 3,127 people are still hospitalised due to Covid-19, including 945 patients treated in intensive care.

The reproduction rate of the virus has increased to 1.01. When it is higher than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic is accelerating.

Between 4 and 10 April, an average of 3,452 new infections with Sars-CoV-2 were detected per day, down by 19% compared to the previous week. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Belgium, 930,603 cases of coronavirus infection have been diagnosed.

Over the same period, an average of 43.4 people have died per day from the virus (+24.1%), bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic in Belgium to 23,566.

An average of 41,100 tests were also carried out daily (-31%), with a positivity rate of 9.5%.

The incidence, which indicates the average number of new cases per day per 100,000 inhabitants, reached 471.1 over 14 days (-14%).
