Queen Mathilde’s uncle charged with fraud

On Saturday, Nieuwsblad and Het Laatste Nieuws reported that Count Henri d'Udekem Acoz, uncle of Queen Mathilde, has been charged with fraud.  He was sent to the Courtrai criminal court on Friday accompanied by 50-year old Hans Velle. The count, who is now facing a prison sentence, denies any involvement in the events. Henri d'Udekem Acoz and Hans Velle are suspected of defrauding a man out of tens of thousands of euros. The money was paid to make sure that a portion of agricultural land was converted to land for construction.
