Pupils in their last year of secondary school have been invited to discover student life at the University of Namur during their autumn break from this coming Monday to October 31st. Almost 800 year 13 pupils are expected to attend classes the university has been giving for the past 16 years. The University of Namur was one of the first Belgian establishments to offer this type of course during the Toussaint holiday.
Thus, hundreds of Y13 pupils will walk into the halls of 6 faculties (Philosophy and Literature, Law, IT, Medicine, Science, and Economics, Sociology and Business) to follow lectures they will have chosen from a list of 300: Psychology and Introduction to Criminology, Media Studies, Ancient and Medieval History, Introduction to Fact-analysis and Decision-making in Economics, Computer Programming, Experimental Physics, Anatomy, and so on. Not only will they be given the opportunity to test what it feels like going to class in a large amphitheatre, but they will also have a chance to meet professors and students and interact with them. They will be able to experience student life and refine their choices of options.
A student advisor will be available for orientation and to provide information about programmes and services offered at the university. This scheme is free and does not require prior registration. Pupils are invited to attend «Info Etudes» at number 85 rue de Bruxelles in Namur just 15 minutes before the first lecture and will be given a map of the campus with the exact location of the halls.
