Car falls on track and is hit by train in Poulseur

Train traffic was interrupted on Thursday morning between Liege-Guillemins and Rivage (service line 43) because of a car which had fallen on the track. A A train crashed into the vehicle in Poulseur, but there were no casualties, according to a spokesperson from Infrabel, the train operator. Coaches will be chartered by the SNCB to cover the route.

The accident happened at approximately 8.00 at the junction between main roads 633 and 678, in Poulseur (Coublain-au -Pont, in the province of Liege). A car ended up on the railroad tracks before being hit by a train, according to the local fire department.

The federal police website warns that junction 45 Sprimont on the A26/E25 is to be avoided. Power was cut between both stations (Rivage and Poulseur) to allow the emergency services to access the scene. A substantial number of trains on this line will be cancelled.
