New on the 1st of November 2014: Belgians with an account abroad will have to provide the details

From the 1st of November, Belgians who have an account abroad will have to give the number as well as the institution and country to the Central Contact Point of the Belgian National Bank (BNB). This new measure is the consequence of an amendment approved by the Chamber in April. All contributing parties who had or will have an account abroad declared on their tax return for 2012, 2013 and 2014 will, from the 1st of November, receive a letter from fisc, which will ask them to give the BNB supplementary information on this account.

According to SPF Finances figures, this concerned 96,254 Belgians for the 2012 tax assessment.
