Simon Denis is the new “Etoile de la cuisine Belge” (Star of Belgian Cooking) for 2014

On Sunday, Simon Denis from the “Comptoir du l’eau vive” at Erpent (Namur province) won the second series of “L’Etoile de la cuisine Belge” organised by the vegetable chef Frank Fol and outlandish chef Pierre Wynats (“Comme chez Soi”) in collaboration with the Belgian Master chefs.  The quarter finals took place on Thursday while the semi-finals also took place on Sunday at Flanders Expo, at Gand.

Simon Denis, who was competing against Cédric Tennstedt from the restaurant “Le Vieux Marronier” in Nivelles (Brabant Walloon), served up the dish that won him the competition à la carte at his restaurant for three months: a “roasted sole, fried chicon glazed with Ommegang beer, cauliflower and meal risotto”.

Just like last year, the dishes used beer, chicon and chocolate.

Last year, Grégory Gillian (“L’Eau Vive”) won the first series of “L’Etoile du cuisine Belge”.
