A 50 year old man living on the Île Maurice was sentenced to 10 years in prison for fatally attacking his wife in April 2013, the Sudpresse reported on Monday. The incident took place on the 1st of April 2013. After having drunk a large quantity of alcohol, the man had an argument with his wife. He claims to have lost control, and was not able to stop himself. He began to hit her being leaving her lying lifeless to go to his son-in-law’s house, which was nearby. The victim did not survive.
During the trial, the 50 year old said he did not intend to kill his wife, but the insults and humiliations she inflicted had become too much to bear.
