The ten Trappists celebrated on the 15th and 16th of November in Redu

The ten officially recognized Trappist beers will be celebrated during the weekend of the 15th and 16th of November in Redu (Luxemburg province) during ‘The celebration of the ten Trappists”, organized by the event committee in Redu. Last year, a similar event was held, but it celebrated nine Trappists. At the end of the last year, Spencer, produced over the Atlantic at the Saint-Joseph of Spencer Abbey in Massachusetts (US), was recognized by the International Trappist Association (AIT), bringing the number of Trappists to ten.
The American Trappist joins six Belgians (Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Achel, Westmalle and Westvleteren), 2 Dutch (La Trappe and Zundert), and an Austrian (Engelszell).

At Redu, the tent will be set up to house a didactic exhibition as well as a bar where the Trappists will be available in their different varieties. The Spencer will not be on offer as it is not available for export. But rare Trappists will be served, such as Golden Chimay.

The visitors will be able to get a souvenir glass and taste a Chimay with cheese. The event will be open on the Saturday from 2pm to 6pm and the Sunday from 11am to 6pm. The weekend’s profits will be given to local charities.

Organizers expect around 2,000 visitors.
