A Belgian pianist strangled by her husband in Germany

Missing since the 23rd of October, the Belgian pianist Kate de Marcken was found dead, buried in woods near Bonn, the Het Nieuwsblad and Sudpresse papers reported on Thursday. Originally from Wavre, she had been living in Germany for several years with her husband, a Russian violinist, who confessed to strangling her. According to her husband, a violinist with the Bonn Beethoven philharmonic Orchestra, Kate de Marcken left their house in Plittersdorf (Bonn) on the 23rd of October. “To go to Belgium to see her family and buy presents for our son”, he said to the police a few days after she went missing.

But when a search warrant for their house was issued, the violinist admitted he had strangled his wife after a furious argument. The victim’s body was found in woods near a sewage treatment works, where her husband put her the day after the murder.
