Third case of sexual abuse for the Bruges diocese

The Bishop of Bruges Jozef de Kesel recalled a priest from Brazil in 2011, after two victims accused him of sexual abuse on a minor. But the Bishop did not stop him from returning to Latin America a year later, where he was working with disadvantaged children, the Het Nieuwsblad and De Standaard revealed on Friday. This is the third sexual abuse case to hit the Bruges diocese in less than two weeks. At the end of October, the Bishop allowed a priest from Middelkerke, convicted in 2009 for lack of morals, to watch over three parishes in Middelkerke from the 1st of November. But the Aldermen College of the seaside town voiced its concerns.  And the priest eventually gave up his job. A few days later, the VRT revealed that Bishop Jozef de Kesel had suspended a priest who had abused a boy of 17 in 2002, but only after a judicial inquiry was opened.
