Cup Party: Only the first five people to invade the pitch sanctioned

Just five people who invaded the pitch of the Constant Vanden Stock stadium will be sanctioned. The pitch invasion happened during the Anderlecht-Lokeren match last May Others were charged with the violation of a ban on entering the stadium after the match. This came from the Football department of the home Office on Wednesday, after diverse information appeared in the press. “The media have said people were sanctioned for incidents during the Anderlecht victory celebration. Only five people were sanctioned for invading the pitch”, said the football department.

“It concerns the first ones to go onto the pitch, despite repeated messages in the stadium that it wasn’t allowed. These people put the entire security system in jeopardy, and stopped the installation of the podium and the winner’s lap of honour. This affected thousands of supporters, among them many children. Several of them are known for past acts of hooliganism”.

None of the thousands of supporters that invaded the pitch afterwards were warned or sanctioned, the Football department says.

Seven people were charged with violating a personal ban from the stadium, by entering it after the match. “They received heavier sanctions”, said the SPF, without giving more details.

Finally, two Anderlecht supporters and two Lokeren supporters were sanctioned for using fireworks.
