Death of Béatrice Berlaimont – around 1,300 people attend her funeral

Saint-Martin’s church was full on Saturday morning. The 650 seats couldn’t accommodate everybody. Hundreds of people stood to their pay last respects to Béatrice Berlaimont, the 14 year old girl whose body was found in an Arlon wood this week. The ceremony was very somber, and there were a lot of speeches.

Béatrice’s family and loved ones, pupils from the Arlon Athénée Royal school with their teachers, members of the fire department, and mayor Vincent Magnus were all present. Jean-Denis Lejeune was also there.

The ceremony ended with Béatrice’s friends speaking, about the harmony she played with since she was small. Her mother also spoke to remember her daughter. The funeral lasted two hours. The cortège headed towards Arlon cemetery, where Béatrice now rests.
