25-35 year olds don’t expect anything from politicians when it comes to helping improve their lives. Only 16% of them trust the political world to solve their personal problems, while 96% of those asked prefer to rely on themselves or their partner (88%). This comes from a study on socio-economic risks young people worry about done by the P&V Foundation, which La Libre Belgique talked about on Wednesday. The study shows the enormous difference between young adult’s perception of their personal future and of society’s future. Their perception of society’s future is very pessimistic, which their perception of their personal future isn’t.
More than half of young adults (54%) think they need to work harder than their predecessors, while 42% think that saving is essential. 30% think there is a very real risk of not being able to afford to go on holiday.
