Belgians are the European champions of time spent on public transport

Belgians spend on average 53.2 minutes a day on public transport, says a Samsung study revealed by the free newspaper Metro on Wednesday. That’s more than any other European country. With more than 53 minutes a day, Belgians spend more time commuting than the Italians (51.9 minutes) and the Spanish (51.6 minutes).  Great Britain (36.9 minutes) and Germany (39.6 minutes) spend much less time.  On average, Europeans spend 45 minutes a day on public transport.

The average time for Belgium is explained by commuters mainly using cars, the preferred method of transport for two workers in three. Traffic jams are the major cause of complaints (41.2%) about other motorist behavior (23%).
