Anti-terrorist measures - jihadists killed in Verviers on Thursday, both from Molenbeek

The two jihadists killed in Verviers on Thursday were both from Molenbeek, where two raids were carried out Sunday morning in connection with the same case, said Molenbeek Alderman, Françoise Schepmans to Belga on Sunday, confirming a report from RTBF. The Federal Prosecutor's office had said that morning that two further raids were being conducted in the Brussels-Capital Region, but did not disclose the precise location of the searches. The Federal Prosecutor's office also indicated that no arrests were made following the raids.

On Thursday night, 13 people were questions during raids in Verviers, Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Brussels and Berchem-Sainte-Agathe. Several other raids also took place in Anderlecht and Liedekerke.  In Verviers, two people opened fire on Federal Police special forces.  The two jihadists were shot dead during the assault.
