The driver involved in Friday morning's fatal accident in Saint-Gilles and which killed a pedestrian from La Louviere, left the scene before finally calling the police. Prosecutors in Brussels have requested she be held in custody and have a blood alcohol test. The victim will also be tested for alcohol. The accident took place around 7:55am on Fonsny Avenue as a pedestrian was crossing the road The pedestrian was hit by a car and died at the scene. The driver fled the scene before finally informing the police.
The area was cordoned off and the police forensic team was called to the scene, along with an automotive expert nominated by the Public Prosecutor's office. After the accident, the suspect had parked her car in the garage at her place of work, where the automotive expert later went to analyse the car.
