The average consumer will see his rates go up by approximately 10 euros annually for electricity, and approximately 20 euros for natural gas consumption, according to first estimates by distribution manager Eandis on Friday. They had announced on Thursday that there would be on knock-on effect on tariffs from corporate tax paid. Inter-municipality structures must pay corporate taxes since January 1st, 2015, in application of a federal government decision. Eandis estimates its 2015 tax bill will amount to 104.6 million euros and intends to spread the cost out through tariff increases.
The hikes announced were estimated for an average consumption (3,500 kWh).
