Police intercepted a lorry transporting 18 illegal migrants, including children, near the Minderhout junction on the E19, revealed Antwerp prosecutor in charge of Turnhout on Monday, thus confirming news published by VRT. According to the prosecutor, the lorry driver was unaware of what he was carrying. He stopped driving spontaneously when he thought he heard suspicious sounds.
The people in the lorry were from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Vietnam.
The vehicle had left Calais and was heading towards the Netherlands.
