Calm demonstration in Grimbergen against the construction of the national football stadium

Around 20 members of the TAK (Taal Aktie Komitee) organised a calm demonstration in Grimbergen. They were protesting against a plan to build a new multifunctional national football stadium on the commune’s C carpark. They handed out flyers. The protestors are worried about the area becoming urbanised due to the construction of the new stadium. There are also plans for three new shopping centres, a congress centre, a concert hall and an exhibition park. They are worried about mobility problems and an “increased francisation” of the Flemish outskirts.

The TAK thinks the renovation of the King Baudouin stadium, in Heysel, is a less expensive option, based on a recent study.
