550 Walloon pupils will go abroad to learn languages next year

A total of 550 Forem grants have been given to young Walloons, so they can learn a language next year. It was far from sure that they would get them. A few weeks ago, the Forem announced it was cutting the budget for linguistic trips, La Dernière Heure reported on Thursday. The Walloon Employment agency said only 350 grants were available for next year. Since then, budgets have been increased, and all applications received on time have been accepted. A total of 2.5 million euros has been allocated.

The most popular countries for learning English are the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Many pupils also choose to go to Flanders or the Netherlands to learn Dutch.
