The bodies of a 68-year-old mother and her 30-year-old son were discovered last Saturday in their Jemmapes (Mons) flat, several months after they died, revealed La Province daily on Wednesday. The neighbours were alerted by the smell coming from the flat and they called the police. According to La Province, the woman probably died last February. Her disabled son, whose body was found close to his mother’s, died approximately 10 days later, confirmed the prosecutor. The 30-year-old was not autonomous and died of dehydration. The 2 victims were apparently destitute.
The Mons judicial police lab and a coroner went on site, revealed the prosecutor once informed. The prosecutor confirms the 2 deaths are not suspicious and there was no outside interference.
